Is your home safe?
A clean and hygienic environment is a must for babies. For the first few months your baby is more or less at your mercy or is it the other way round! The entire family will be involved in taking care of the new VIP. But once your baby starts crawling, you will have to ensure that your home is baby proof. These questions may haunt you - Are there any accessible plugs, any wires lying on the floor, any liquids within reach, etc? Keep your prized china on the top shelf; hide small toys that belong to the baby’s siblings and put away anything that will catch the attention of a curious baby.
Home essentials for the new arrival
A car seat and a crib are quite essential. Further, you would need baby clothes, towels, a baby bath tub, bibs, formula, bottles, a vaporizer, a cleaning brush, a feeding pillow, lotion and lots of diapers! This is in no way an exhaustive list as baby paraphernalia is quite endless.
Finish odd jobs on time
Are there repairs you haven’t found time to do? Do it now! Once your baby arrives, there’s going to be a circus at home. File those bills, get the heating in order, finish the wall papering that you started months ago, get the baby room ready and find some time to sit back and rest!
Preparing the house for your baby is important but remember that love in abundance is the most natural baby care. Enjoy all the moments – the first smile, the first crawl, along with all the rounds of burping, changing diapers, and colicky nights - because once this stage is past, you’ll yearn for it all the more.
